Wadi Rum Travel Information
Plan your Wadi Rum visit with practical information about transport, meeting points, what to bring, what to wear and the best seasons for a desert stay. If you still have a question, contact us before booking.
How do I get to Rum Under The Stars?
Car
After you book, we send a Google Maps pin with the exact meeting point and parking instructions. On the way into Wadi Rum, stop at the Visitor Centre to validate your Jordan Pass or buy an entrance ticket. Follow the arrival instructions sent by our team and ignore unsolicited offers in the car park. The day before arrival, we may ask for a photo of your vehicle and number plate so we can identify you at the meeting point.
Bus
Bus schedules and fares can change. Check the official JETT schedule before travelling and confirm the departure point, time and price directly with the operator.
JETT currently lists routes connecting Wadi Rum with Aqaba, Petra and Amman. Please verify the latest timetable before your journey.
Taxi
After booking, we send the meeting-point pin and arrival instructions. Share the pin with your driver, agree the fare before departure and allow extra time for traffic or stops.
Approximate driving times are about one hour from Aqaba and around four hours from Amman. Journey times vary, so confirm the plan with your driver.
What should I bring to Wadi Rum?
For the day
Lip balm, sunscreen and sunglasses; a hat or scarf for sun and sand; light-coloured clothing; a phone or camera; a power bank; and a small backpack.
For an overnight stay
Bring your toothbrush and toothpaste, device chargers and a small flashlight or headlamp. For a tent night, also pack a power bank and wet wipes.
For Jeep tours
Bring your Jordan Pass or entrance ticket, a small backpack, sun protection and a phone or camera.
What should I wear in Wadi Rum?
Wear lightweight, breathable clothing during warm days and bring a light jacket or sweater because desert temperatures can fall quickly after sunset. A scarf or buff helps with sun and blowing sand. Choose closed, comfortable shoes with a good grip.
